Environmental Policy
Vincent Press Limited like all responsible companies, recognise the importance of protecting the environment. We are motivated to play our part in working towards a better environment by our own business practises and the encouragement of others through the products and services we offer.
The environmental policy that Vincent Press adheres to is one of always aiming to minimise waste both in material and energy and to have all waste collected and removed as recommended by the county’s environmental agency.
The vast majority of our paper purchased comes from paper manufacturers who use trees from sustainable forests. Our main supplier, Antalis, was the first National UK paper merchant to attain both FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody accreditation.
Paper is either totally chlorine free or of low chlorine content. Where possible we use totally recycled paper. Some of the papers used are guaranteed for archival storage. Waste paper is collected weekly by a waste paper collection service.
Our printing inks are made up from natural organic pigments. They have no dangerous components according to the EEC directive, therefore they are all non-toxic and as such there are no special requirements regarding ventilation. Protective gloves are provided for cleaning printing presses.
All used and waste film and metal plates are collected on a regular basis and recycled by the appropriate services as is the toner used in digital machines. All waste water used in conjunction with any chemical is collected in special containers and disposed of through the company J & G Environmental, a specialist in waste control for the printing industry. Since Vincent Press introduced computer to plate technology coupled with process-less plates we have acheived an almost complete reduction in chemical waste.
Honouring our environmental policy will enable Vincent Press Limited, its employees and customers, to make a meaningful contribution to the quality of our environment.
